Arrival & Dismissal

ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL

Student Arrival at School
Students will be allowed to enter GMS at 8:30 am – School starts promptly at 8:45 am. Please, if you’re dropping your child by car, make sure you drop them off early enough so they can get to their classroom by 8:45.

Buses will continue to use the main lot to drop students off. 8th-grade students will enter through the main doors. 7th-grade students will enter through the middle set of doors at GMS.

Car riders must enter Library Lane off of Center Street (by Dog ‘n Suds) and will enter our parking lot through the South Access Road. Although it reads “Do Not Enter”, we’ve taken the necessary precautions to ensure it is safe for all.

Student Dismissal Procedures
Students will start being dismissed at 3:15 pm.
School buses will park in front of the building and wait for students to walk to the buses.
Cars will travel Library Lane and use the GMS access road to pick up their child as shown in the diagram. Drivers should pull as far forward as possible.

TRANSPORTATION

Please contact Durham School Services at 847-543-9244 if there will be changes to your child’s transportation.

All routes have a designated start time. Once the route begins buses do not wait at each stop. Please have your child at your designated bus stop 5 minutes before the scheduled pick-up time. Keep in mind when the weather and road conditions are bad, it will affect the bus schedule.

During the winter months when heavy snowfall can sometimes block a bus stop, the driver can drop off or pick up at the nearest cleared driveway.

The following contact at Durham is available if you have questions or concerns regarding school transportation:
