Arrival & Dismissal

ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL

Student Arrival at School
Students will be allowed to enter GMS at 8:30 am – School starts promptly at 8:45 am. Please, if you’re dropping your child by car, make sure you drop them off early enough so they can get to their classroom by 8:45.

Buses and cars will use the main lots to drop students off. 8th-grade students will enter through the main doors. 7th-grade students will enter through the middle set of doors at GMS.

Cars and buses will enter our main parking lot through the same entrance. Cars will follow the cones and drop students between the first row of cars. Buses will use the full parking lot lane and drop off at the front doors.

Please follow the diagram below. Staff will be directing traffic and assisting student drop off during each morning arrival.

Student Dismissal Procedures
Students will start being dismissed at 3:15 pm.

School buses will park in the north side of the building parking spots and wait for students to walk to the buses during dismissal.

Cars and buses will enter our main parking lot through the front entrance. Cars will follow the cones and pick student up either on our access road or between the first row of cars. The first arriving cars will pull all the way through our lot and to the end of the access road on the south side of the building as noted below. Please notify your child if you are an early arriving car so that they will know to walk to the access road to find you.

Please be patient while driving through our lot as students will be passing through to find their cars.

TRANSPORTATION

Please contact Durham School Services at 847-543-9244 if there will be changes to your child’s transportation.

All routes have a designated start time. Once the route begins buses do not wait at each stop. Please have your child at your designated bus stop 5 minutes before the scheduled pick-up time. Keep in mind when the weather and road conditions are bad, it will affect the bus schedule.

During the winter months when heavy snowfall can sometimes block a bus stop, the driver can drop off or pick up at the nearest cleared driveway.

The following contact at Durham is available if you have questions or concerns regarding school transportation:
